The Pornography of Violence: A New or Old Addiction?

The Pornography of Violence: A New or Old Addiction?

Pornography part of your life? Porn Addiction is the actions and recordings of those actions which confront society’s morality value system. Often called the community standard. They relate to much more than just sexual matters.

Is The Pornography of Violence part of your daily life?

Violence, is it OK, when it is killing and crippling for “good?”

The Pornography of Violence is a broad view of the issues defining and surrounding the idea of “Pornography coupled with Violence.”

Are violent video games related to the lower levels of empathy in the current generation, who have been bred on them? Studies indicate as many a 1 out of 10 young people are at risk of interaction addiction.

The Pornography of Violence has lessened our responsiveness to the conditions and pain of others. We do become what we do. Seems obvious video games can hook young people and adults as well.

The question is: where does it lead them?

Our current punch bowl of recent films is no better. Glamorized Gore one critic called it.

Ultra-violent. You can take your pick of which film is most qualified to meet the definition of Pornography of Violence. You be the judge.

How self indulgent are we willing to go? It is endemic in our generation. As a former boxer, caged fighting is my pick.

Most recently I noticed in the national news channels that they are using montages with attractive women in one shot and combat shots from Iraqi and Afghanistan in another frame.

The juxtaposition of two or more different images to create a third impression or response in the viewer.

This effective technique came to us from Sergi Eisenstein, the great Russian film director. Very effective. Mixing sex and violence, our film directors know no bounds in doing so. Surprised that the News Networks use it too. War Porn.

Of course, You Tube is no stranger to the Pornography of Violence,
Plenty of spliced films from our current hundred years war are available. And same as sexual pornography there are degrees of violence. Some so bad the CIA won’t let us watch them.

War Porn is hot stuff, even if you don’t have a camouflage suit to do your weekend shooting with the guys.

Many experts feel that these “soft” addictions are just as powerful as our drug and alcohol ones.

Have you or your children logged off the real world, chosen an electronic one instead of real life. Reel life for Reality. The younger we are when we start the better chance we have of becoming an addict. Just like football or ballet.

Lets take a break and have an e-cigarette.

Think a little bit about what you are seeing and the effects it has on you and your children. They are going to be in charge soon.

Self Knowledge is the beginning of self improvement.
